Technology transfer translational funding

It is often necessary to conduct further experiments for effective protection under intellectual property law or for validating the technology, in order to improve later marketing opportunities. In this respect the integration of external partners (cooperation partners, industry, CROs, etc.) is possible and may be necessary.

The TT translational funding does not finance primarily basic research but the translation of research results into application, e.g. for an initial proof of concept (PoC). Max Planck Innovation will examine together with you what may be necessary for successful patent protection and what validation experiments appear advisable for subsequent marketing. MI will check your project for funding suitability and support you in applying for the funds, which have to be approved by the President of the Max Planck Society. An external expert opinion is necessary for applications which exceed € 100.000 funding. For smaller projects < € 25,000 a simplified procedure applies.
